EDITIONS

For information about edition sizes and availability press the 'i' button while viewing artworks.

Edition numbers are announced only at the time of the artworks release, further editions from these or other sold out works are never re-released at any time to ensure the provenance of every piece.

Since 2013 all photographic works released by The Distil Ennui Studio™ are produced as unique works, with no editions ever to be released. The current reproducible capacity of photography is both its force and its failing, I am provoked by the notion that a painting is intrinsically more valuable than a photograph primarily because of its singular uniqueness. To counter this perception, I now only produce unique prints from each work in an attempt to challenge the ideas concerning the spiritual and economic valuation of artworks and to create an exciting tension between their individual present and relinquished, reproducible past.

STUDIO INFORMATION

The Distil Ennui Studio™ ® was formed in 1990 by British artist Alexander James Hamilton; the studio has re-located over 20 times to regions ranging from the Asia Pacific, the Americas, Caribbean, Indian Ocean Rim, Europe, Russia and Siberia; each time creating new bodies of work to be exhibited in iconic spaces & galleries around the world that are infused with these surroundings.

These works are consumed privately and by institutions alike, with year on year stronger showings appearing on the secondary market..
